Privacy Policy

This is a portfolio site. It collects very little, and this page says exactly what, why, and how to stop it.

Who runs this site

getfanforged.com is the personal portfolio of Michael Adante, a producer working across marketing, production and technology, based in Australia. The site is operated by me as an individual. It is not a shop, it has no accounts, and it sells nothing.

If you want anything on this page actioned — a copy of your data, or its deletion — use the contact form and say so.

The short version

If you just read the site, the only thing recorded is anonymous analytics about which pages were viewed. If you send a message through the contact form, I receive your name, email and message by email, because otherwise I could not reply. Nothing is sold, and there is no advertising or marketing list.

The contact form

The form asks for your name, email address, an optional subject, and your message. When you submit it, that content is sent to my inbox through SendGrid, an email delivery provider. I use it to read and reply to you, and for nothing else.

Two things happen behind the form to stop automated spam, and both are worth describing honestly because they involve you:

  • There is a hidden field that real people never see or fill in. If it comes back filled, the message is silently discarded. Nothing is stored.
  • To stop one source flooding the form, submissions are limited to five per hour per connection. To do that without keeping a record of who you are, your IP address is hashed — converted to an irreversible string — and only that hash and the submission timestamps are stored, in a file outside the public area of the server. The IP address itself is never written down, and the record holds no message content, name or email.

Messages stay in my email account for as long as the correspondence is useful. Ask me to delete one and I will.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people actually look at. It sets cookies and identifiers recording which pages you view, how long you spend, how you arrived, and your device, browser and approximate location. Google derives that location from your IP address and does not store the IP address itself in Analytics.

Analytics is set to measure a few interactions automatically. In plain terms, it also records when someone downloads the CV, clicks a link leaving the site, plays an embedded video, or scrolls to the bottom of a page. It records that those things happened — not who did them.

I see this as aggregate reports only: visitor counts, popular sections, traffic sources. I do not use it to identify anyone, and I do not send Google anything that could identify you. Google's handling of the data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

To opt out, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, block cookies in your browser, or browse in private mode. The site works normally either way.

Things loaded from other companies

Some parts of the page are served by third parties. When your browser fetches them, it necessarily tells those companies your IP address and roughly what you are viewing — that is how the web works, but you should know it happens.

WhatWhoWhat that means
TypefacesGoogle Fonts Fonts load from Google's servers, so Google sees your IP address when the page loads.
Showreel videosYouTube Embeds use youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which does not set tracking cookies unless you press play.
Video thumbnailsYouTube (ytimg.com) Preview images load with the page, so Google sees your IP address even if you never play a video.
AnalyticsGoogle As described above.
Email deliverySendGrid Only if you submit the contact form. Carries your message to my inbox.

Links to IMDb, YouTube and elsewhere are ordinary outbound links. Once you follow one you are on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, not this one.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Hostinger. Like essentially all web servers, theirs keeps access logs — IP address, time, page requested, browser — which exist for security and troubleshooting. I do not use these logs to build any picture of individual visitors.

What I do not do

  • No advertising, and no advertising cookies.
  • No mailing list. Sending a message does not subscribe you to anything.
  • No selling, renting or sharing of personal information with anyone, for any purpose.
  • No accounts, no passwords, no payment details — the site has nothing to buy.
  • No profiling and no automated decisions about you.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask me to tell you what I hold about you, send you a copy, correct it, or delete it. Use the contact form. In practice the answer is usually short, because for most visitors there is nothing held beyond anonymous analytics.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you those rights formally, plus the right to object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority. My lawful basis is legitimate interest — running and securing a small portfolio site and replying to people who choose to write to me. If you are in Australia, the Australian Privacy Principles frame the same rights.

Children

This site is aimed at professional contacts and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If a child has sent me something through the form, tell me and I will delete it.

Changes

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. There is no notification list to add you to, so the date is how you tell.

Contact

Questions about any of this, or a request to see or delete what I hold: use the contact form.
